Early Breeders Cup Odds & Betting Action

In racing we can read all the data and opinion we want in a week like this, but crowdsourcing can tell us quite a bit more. Again this year, betting exchange Betfair tells us which way punters are leaning, before the tote opens.

Marathon: Ever Rider has been an anti-steam horse this week and that’s starting to show. He is over 5-1 currently, but he does represent chalk. Worldly has dropped from about 11-1 earlier in the week to 9-1. There is a little action on Old Time Hockey (11-1), Cease (12-1) and Indian Jones (6-1)

Juvy Turf: This race is pretty well bet – probably because of the Euro entries. Giovanni Boldini is the favorite at 7-2. Bobby’s Kitten is 4-1, Outstrip is 5-1, Wilshire Boulevard is 8-1, Poker Player 12-1 and Bashart 13-1.

Mile: Verrazano clicks in at 7-2. Goldencents at 5-1. Fed Biz, Burjo, Golden Ticket and Pants on Fire all around 10-1. I was a little surprised at the action on Golden Ticket.

Filly Turf: Surprise! Vorda (9-2), Chriselliam (5-1) and Al Thakhira (6-1) have the money. My Conquestadory is 7-1, which I assume will come down.

Distaff: This is a great race and it shows. The overround (takeout) is only 2.2% and this is a tight market. Royal Delta is 2.15-1, Princess of Sylmar is 2.9-1 and Beholder is 3.1-1. Close Hatches, 8-1 and Authenticity 14-1.

Tomorrow’s Classic: Price has shortened on Game on Dude at 5-2. Mucho Macho Man is 4-1. Declaration of War and Fort Larned are hovering around 6-1. Palace Malice is 11-1.
